Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian stock markets opened the week on a weak note on Monday, with broad-based selling across sectors. The BSE Sensex slipped 223 points or 0.27 per cent to start at 82,278, while the Nifty50 fell 105 points or 0.42 per cent, trading at 25,180 in early deals.
The decline in Indian indices followed weakness in Asian markets after US President Donald Trump signaled stricter tariffs on China, stoking global trade concerns.
In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap 100 and Nifty SmallCap 100 indices also fell, down 0.5 per cent and 0.64 per cent, respectively.
