Three days after making the first relief appearance of his MLB career, right-hander Logan Gilbert will start on the mound for the Seattle Mariners in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Monday in Toronto.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson announced Gilbert as the Game 2 starter after Seattle opened the ALCS with a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays on Sunday night.

Gilbert started Game 3 of the ALDS last Tuesday, throwing six strong innings in the Mariners’ 8-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. The 28-year-old allowed only one run and four hits, while recording seven strikeouts and no walks on 85 pitches.

Gilbert then threw two-plus scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Seattle’s marathon 3-2
