A weekend filled with world-class authors, translators and performers returns to City of Asylum, this time with the theme “Rift & Riff” through the lenses of translation and social justice.
LitFest, which brings a variety of literature-savvy artists in various media to the city annually, asks the question: When faced with a “rift” of societal change, cultural differences and language barriers, how can individuals “riff” on that separation and make way for collaboration?
Pittsburgh poet Yona Harvey and scholar Tahirah J. Walker, will kick off LitFest on Saturday with a conversation about what it means to be a Black woman in the city. Pittsburgh-native writer Damon Young will moderate the panel, which opens with a song by artist INEZ.
