SALT LAKE CITY — A father and his three young children were found Sunday after not returning from a hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon on Saturday.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said a 31-year-old man, his 4- and 2-year-old sons and his 8-year-old daughter began hiking near the Broads Fork Trail Saturday. They were later reported missing.

The group's vehicle was found in the Broads Fork Trail parking lot.

The sheriff's office, Utah Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau and Life Flight assisted in the search.

Each of the family members was taken to a local hospital after being found by first responders on Sunday morning. The man is in fair condition, two of the children are in critical condition and the third child is stable, according to th
