KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Frustrations boiled over at the end of the Chiefs’ 30-17 victory over the Detroit Lions.
Lions safety Brian Branch took a swing at Chiefs wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes appeared to try to shake Branch’s hand after taking the final kneel down of the game. When Branch didn’t, an altercation between he and Smith-Schuster resulted in several players being taken to the ground.
“We play the game in between the whistles,” Mahomes said to NBC Sports’ Kathryn Tappen after the game. “They can do all the extracurricular stuff they want to do, but we play the game in between the whistles.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Smith-Schuster suffered a nose injury in the scuffle. The 27-year-old w
