ALA-West Foothills holds off Northwest Christian 17-14

Once the ALA-West Foothills defense stopped four straight Northwest Christian plays from its own one yard line, the Guardians’ offense had no choice.

It had to score, even if it would take a 99-yard drive. Even if it meant going for it on fourth and 1 at the Guardians’ 22 in the third quarter.

Junior running back Kenyon Rosenthal burst through the stacked defense at the line and raced for a 58-yard gain. Five plays later, senior Hunter Cotten scored on a one-yard run, giving the home team a 17-14 lead it held the rest of the night.

“It was more in our minds that we had the momentum,” ALA-West Foothills Coach Bryan Rauzan said. “I also didn’t want to fall back. Let’s go with what’s working.”
