Jacob Fearnley takes on fifth seed Tallon Griekspoor of The Netherlands in the first round of the Nordic tennis Open and is due on court in Stockholm on Monday afternoon.

For the Edinburgh player it is a chance to not only claim a notable scalp having dropped to No 80 in the world rankings but also inject some momentum into his career on an indoor surface where he has excelled in the past.

Jacob did get a win in his last tournament – a nervy three set encounter with Luc van Essche but then ran into Dominic Stricker and one break in each set was enough to give the left handed Swiss qualifier a 6-4. 6-4 win at the Roanne Challenger event in France.

Unfortunately for Stricker he had to retire injured after five games of his quarter final.
