GILBERT, Ariz. — A Gilbert family is cleaning up after floodwaters poured into their home early Sunday morning.

Stacy Adams said she’s used to dealing with large amounts of water on her property, but not what she saw overnight.

“We've never had it this level,” Adams said.

Around 4 a.m., the Adams’ backyard was underwater. Flooding seeped downstairs into the basement, where her in-laws were sleeping.

“They woke up right at four, screamed and woke up the whole house,” she said.

The family found themselves standing in about two inches of water.

“We started vacuuming up all the water that we could to try to save the basement,” Adams said.

Soon after, a water remediation team arrived to help.

“We were like number seven of the calls they received already,” she said.
