TORONTO, ON - Cal Raleigh's sixth-inning home run and Jorge Polanco's two clutch hits propelled the Seattle Mariners to a 3-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays to open the ALCS.
In Seattle's first ALCS appearance in 24 years, they shrugged off a first-inning, first-pitch George Springer home run to rally and clinch a road win.
After that homer, Seattle pitchers held the Blue Jays to one total hit and no runs the rest of the game.
The Mariners now have won every first road game of any League Championship Series they've ever played in, but are 0-3 all-time in this round, never winning the American League pennant.
Game 2 of the series begins tomorrow at 2:03 p.m. back at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
