Walcha Council is preparing a letter to EnergyCo and the NSW Minister for Energy, Penny Sharpe MP, communicating that it does not support the current study corridor for the proposed New England Renewable Energy Zone Network Infrastructure Project.

Mayor Eric Noakes will formally oppose the current New England REZ network infrastructure project in a Mayoral Minute to be presented at an extraordinary meeting of the council on Wednesday, October 15.

"EnergyCo has not provided adequate evidence to Walcha Council or the community to demonstrate that the proposed design for the New England Renewable Energy Zone network infrastructure project is optimal or justified," Cr Noakes said.
