Kansas City, Mo. — The Lions aren’t used to this. They’re not used to getting stopped, or getting frustrated, or getting beaten rather handily. In that regard, this was a nasty little reminder that their potent offense isn’t immune to breakdowns.

They knew the obstacles were stacked coming into Arrowhead to face a desperate Chiefs team. The Lions knew their defense, missing both starting cornerbacks and others, would be severely challenged by Patrick Mahomes. And everyone knows peculiar and inexplicable things occasionally happen when the Chiefs play in prime time.
