EXETER — When she began playing the harp in the later stage of her life, Regina Delaney never expected any recognition. She was drawn to the instrument, the national symbol of Ireland , because it connected her to her ancestry and homeland.
But recognition she got.
On Oct. 8, Delaney was honored by the state with a Governor’s Art Award , which pays tribute to the vibrant artists and musicians who call New Hampshire home. The awards are presented every two years by the State Arts Council and the governor’s office, and winning individuals are celebrated at a ceremony in Concord.
