Jason Moloney was preparing to accept his forced retirement, before joining forces with Australia's only current male boxing world champion.

Now the former bantamweight world champion believes his partnership with cruiserweight goliath Jai Opetaia will propel him back to the top.

The 34-year-old Moloney (27-4) has signed with Tasman Fighters and will make his Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre debut on the undercard when Opetaia defends his IBF and Ring belts on December 6.

Former WBO champion Moloney is coming off back-to-back losses in Japan, the first of which was a frustrating dethroning in front of 57,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome.
