In the list of VCE subjects with fewer than 100 students, one subject stands out, Australian politics (“ The unpopular VCE subjects that could face the axe ”, 13/10). It seems unlikely that the other unpopular VCE subjects, most of them languages, ever had the student numbers Australian politics once had. Literally thousands of Victorian students once chose to study the political system of their nation each year. In recent decades this has steadily declined to just 86 in 2024.
