The Erie County District Attorney's Office has already said it will prosecute Brian Scott Lorenz for Deborah Meindl's murder for a third time.
But a juror who weighed the evidence in the retrial that ended with a deadlocked jury believes the next trial is unlikely to end in a conviction either.
As long as there's at least one juror on the next panel with strong critical thinking skills, no prosecution will overcome the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt, the juror said.
"I wasn't going to let this poor guy get railroaded any further," said the juror, who spoke by phone with The Buff alo News. The News agreed not to publish his name in exchange for his candid opinions on the closed-door jury deliberations.
