US President Donald Trump has declared the war in Gaza “over” as he heads to the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt for a peace summit that marks the release of the Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees. The hostage release kicked off early this morning, with the Israeli government saying it will free about 2,000 Palestinian detainees under the agreement. Hamas has said that all 20 living hostages will be released to the Red Cross, followed by the handover of 28 bodies.

The big questions, though, are if this truce will continue to hold and what comes next. An agreement is yet to be reached on Gaza’s post war governance and the territory’s reconstruction.
