Sep 21, 2025; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson talks with quarterback Caleb Williams (18) against the Dallas Cowboys during the second half at Soldier Field.

A year ago, the Washington Commanders (3-2) and Chicago Bears (2-2) met in a Week 8 matchup at the end of October, which resulted in one of the most improbable conclusions to an NFL game in 2024.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels launched a 52-yard Hail Mary throw as time expired which was tipped and caught in the end zone by Noah Brown, resulting in an 18-15 win for the Commanders.

Nearly a full year later, they'll get a rematch in each team's second prime-time game of 2025. It's a matchup that features quarterbacks taken with the top two picks in the 2024 draft: Caleb Williams (No. 1 overall, Bears) and Daniels (No. 2 overall, Commanders).

Chicago (2-2) is coming off an early-season bye week and, most recently, a road win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4. The Bears are riding a two-game win streak and Williams is looking more comfortable each week in the offense under new head coach Ben Johnson.

The Commanders currently hold a 3-2 record after a 27-10 road victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. Daniels made his return from a two-game absence and led Washington to its first road win of the season. He threw for 231 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 39 yards. He became the first player in NFL history to reach 4,000 career passing and 1,000 rushing yards in his first 20 games.

Washington had played its previous two games without its dual-threat quarterback and managed a 1-1 record in his absence. The Commanders aim to establish their first winning streak of the season, while the Bears come to town tonight.

The Commanders' offense was one of the best in the league last season, and they showed signs of life with the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year back under center last week. They'll look to keep things rolling against a Bears defense that has allowed the sixth-most yards per game and the most rushing yards per game among NFC teams.

Washington's seventh-round running back, Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt, enjoyed a breakout performance in Week 5, rushing 14 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He'll look to take advantage of the struggling Bears run defense tonight.

Can the Bears get revenge for last season's defeat or will Washington have more tricks up its sleeve? Here's what to know about the Commanders vs. Bears "Monday Night Football" matchup for NFL Week 6.
