By this time next week, Anthony Albanese will have met Donald Trump at the White House.

There’s an asterisk on that, of course, as we’ve all seen that anything involving the US President isn’t set in stone until it’s happened.

The PM probably isn’t spending his week on leave thinking about Trump (nor is he spending it secretly getting hitched, his office has assured multiple reporters).

But he has spent a lot of time over the past month thinking about the President.

Politicians don’t get hot girl Euro summers but they do get summit season. For Albanese, a lot of that time was spent talking to like-minded leaders who have done well at managing Trump 2.0.

Emmanuel Macron, Canada’s Mark Kearney, even golfer Greg Norman have been consulted.
