The Los Angeles City Council voted to direct city staff to explore converting a disputed beachside parking lot in Venice into a mobility hub while assessing the feasibility of relocating a long-stalled affordable housing development to a nearby site, a move that could upend a project recently awarded $42.5 million in state funding.

The vote approved a motion by Councilmember Traci Park, whose district includes the coastal neighborhood. It targets Lot 731, a 2.65-acre city-owned parcel west of Abbot Kinney Boulevard that currently provides about 200 public parking spaces and generates roughly $1 million annually in revenue.
