Two fast trains have collided in eastern Slovakia, injuring dozens of passengers.

The accident occurred near the town of Roznava on Monday morning, Slovak Railways said.

Police said about 80 passengers were on board, but they did not immediately offer more details.

Two of the injured passengers were in critical condition.

Pictures from the incident showed the front part of one engine badly damaged while the other train derailed.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok suggested human error might be to blame.
