New Delhi: In one of the largest email migrations ever in India’s public sector, the email addresses of all 12 lakh Central government employees, including those from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), have been shifted from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) system to a platform developed by Zoho, a Tamil Nadu-based software company.

Officials confirmed that the migration, completed over the past year, marks a major shift in how the Indian government manages its internal communication systems. The NIC will continue to provide the same official domains, nic.in and gov.in, but the back-end hosting and processing of data have now been moved to Zoho’s servers.
