Two people are dead after a small aircraft crashed onto a highway in southern Massachusetts before bursting into flames.
According to police, the plane crashed around 8:15 a.m. on Monday after landing on the median of I-195 in Dartmouth. The crash, police say, led to a “fire on the ground.” It appears the plane may have been attempting to land, according to an early morning release from the Massachusetts State Police.
“Preliminary information indicates the plane may have been attempting to land at New Bedford Regional Airport, though it does not appear that the pilot provided the Airport with a flight plan or the number of souls aboard the aircraft,” the MSP said in their release.
