A 23-month-old boy died after he was hit by a vehicle last week in Grand Blanc Township, officials said.
At around 6:38 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old woman driving a 2011 Ford Escape was pulling into the driveway of a residence on the 1000 block of E. Rowland Drive "at a low rate of speed" when she unknowingly struck the child, according to authorities.
The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved. Police did not release further details on the victim or driver.
According to Kids and Car Safety, thousands of children are hurt or killed in "frontovers," which refers to a driver moving forward slowly and failing to see others in the area directly in front of a vehicle.
