Amid the public outrage over Durgapur gang-rape incident, West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose on Monday called for a “second renaissance” to make the state safe for girls.
Addressing a press briefing in Paschim Bardhaman, Bose said the gang-rape of a medical student is “shocking to public conscience”.

“It is high time that all of us stand together and say, ‘stop or we will make it stop’. We will do everything to give justice to the family,” he said.
The Bengal Governor said that he has spoken to the victim, a resident of Odisha and her parents bt refused to divulge the details about their discussion.
