Twenty-seven-year-old Dyllan Nicholas Thompson of Toledo has been arrested on charges of first-degree assault and the unlawful use of a weapon following a car crash in rural Lincoln county that escalated into an exchange of gunfire between two drivers.

The incident occurred near milepost 12 on Elk City Road on Thursday afternoon. Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an exchange of gunfire following a collision.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene and, shortly after 2 p.m., Toledo Police officers located Jacob Barnhart near milepost 12 with a gunshot wound to the leg. First aid was administered before Barnhart was airlifted from Eddyville to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.
