Columbus Day, controversial to say the least, has been a federal holiday for more than 50 years.

In 2021, Joe Biden became the first U.S. president to issue a proclamation commemorating Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Most banks are closed.

There will not be any mail delivery.

Federal offices are closed.

Lincoln public schools are closed for fall break today and Tuesday.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is closed.

The new York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ are open.

UPS and FedEx will make deliveries.
