Trump Declares End of Gaza War, Hails New Era

US President Donald Trump announced the end of the Gaza war during a historic address to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, on October 13, 2025. He described the recent ceasefire as a "historic dawn of a new Middle East," stating that the forces of "chaos, terror, and ruin" have been defeated. Trump emphasized that this moment marks the end of a long and painful nightmare for both Israelis and Palestinians.

In his speech, Trump praised the US-brokered ceasefire and the hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, declaring it the beginning of a "Golden Age" for the region. He stated, "This long and difficult war has ended," and highlighted that the entire region supports the plan to demilitarise Gaza and disarm Hamas. He asserted that Israel has achieved all it could through military means and now must focus on peace and prosperity.

Trump reflected on the tragic events of October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacks resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 Israelis and the abduction of 251 individuals. He vowed that the memory of these events would be honored, saying, "America joins you in those two everlasting vows--NEVER FORGET, and NEVER AGAIN."

He further stated, "This is not only the End of a war--it is the END of an age of terror and death, and the BEGINNING of the age of faith, hope, and of God." Trump noted that after years of conflict, the skies are now calm, and the region is finally at peace.

In his remarks, Trump called for a shift in the mindset of the Palestinian people, urging them to abandon violence and focus on building a better future for their children. He stated, "The choice for Palestinians could not be more clear. This is their chance to turn forever from the path of terror and violence."

Trump also condemned extremism and anti-Semitism, asserting that decades of fostering hatred have led to nothing but suffering. He expressed hope for a new coalition of responsible nations in the Middle East, stating, "It's more obvious than ever that the productive and responsible nations of this region should not be enemies or adversaries, you should be partners -- and eventually even friends."

Earlier in the day, Trump met with hostages who shared their experiences, marking a significant moment as Hamas no longer held any living hostages. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness the release of 20 hostages as part of the ceasefire agreement. Trump is set to travel to Egypt to co-chair an international summit regarding the deal.

The ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with at least 67,869 people killed and 170,105 wounded since October 2023. The recent developments signal a potential turning point in the region's long-standing conflict, with hopes for lasting peace and stability.
