ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Du'wan Morgan had just started high school. The 14-year-old loved nature, fishing, and had a quiet way about him that made people feel at ease. He had big dreams. But on Wednesday evening, while sitting in his bedroom playing video games, his life was cut short by a bullet meant for someone else.

“He was minding his business, doing nothing,” a family member said. “Just sitting in his room. And now he’s gone.”

Du'wan was killed around 6 p.m. when two bullets blasted through the window of his bedroom on Hobkirk Drive in the Glasgow Village neighborhood of unincorporated north St. Louis County. Outside, two groups of teenagers had been arguing. Then, neighbors say, gunfire rang out.
