UPDATE: A boardwalk on the Tennessee Riverpark is closing next week for an estimated six months after a structural engineer deemed it was in need of "critical repair."

Signs went up on Monday, Sept. 29 to provide three weeks' notice to pedestrians and bicyclists, according to Hamilton County press secretary Haley Burton. The county calls it the "Riverpark Walking Bridge"- not to be confused with the Walnut Street Bridge.

Crews will take the walkway down to its studs. They won't be able to do a partial closing since it's over marshland.

The county, which secured funding via a county commission resolution, is not dictating an official detour route.

We're working to learn how this will impact foot traffic in the area.
