NEW BRITAIN, CT (WFSB) - New Britain officials planned to provide an update on the discovery of human remains outside of an abandoned home.
A news conference has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
City officials said New Britain Police Chief Matt Marino, Farmington Police Chief Paul Melanson, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart, and Farmington Mayor Joe Capodiferro will be in attendance.
The discovery was made last week at the home on Clark Street.
Family members identified the remains as 12-year-old Jacqueline Torres.
New Britain authorities had yet to release any official information about the case.
However, both Victor Torres, Jacqueline’s father, and Frances Melendez, the girl’s stepmother, told Channel 3 that they learned of the identity from police on Thursday.
