Clintondale Community Schools officials are expected to respond this week to a school board member’s findings of sloppy and shoddy record-keeping relating to reimbursements for expenses from travel mileage and other expenses for workers.
Jared Maynard, the school board’s vice president, said he found “multiple issues, multiple problems” when reviewing the mileage paybacks to employees. Problems included missing dates, incorrect calculations, missing signatures, lack of supporting paperwork, and one official signing off on his own figures.
At the board’s Sept. 22 meeting, Maynard called the incident “a travesty.”
“It is astounding what I found out,” Maynard told his colleagues at the board meeting in Clinton Township.
