Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is on a seven-day visit to India, the first high-level engagement between New Delhi and the Taliban-led government since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was established in August 2021, following the abrupt withdrawal of United States forces from the country.

Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday (October 10), held a meeting with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in the national capital. In a post on X, Jaishankar said that the Afghan Foreign Minister’s visit marks an “important step in advancing our ties and affirming the enduring India-Afghanistan friendship.”
