OLYMPIA — Another lawsuit has been filed against Washington state, challenging the scope and implementation of a new sales tax that took effect earlier this month.
The lawsuit, filed by law firm Holland & Knight on behalf of Security Services Northwest Inc., seeks to clarify which services are impacted and to delay the tax enforcement.
The Sequim-based company, which operates in all 39 Washington counties, filed the suit on Sept. 30 in Thurston County Superior Court. The company is seeking declaratory and injunctive relief, asking the court to halt the tax and delay its implementation until Jan. 1, 2026, arguing it did not have adequate time to prepare for compliance across its service areas.
