RAINBOW VALLEY, AZ (AZFamily) — Rescue crews continue searching for a man who was swept away by floodwaters near Goodyear early Sunday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., MCSO rescue crews responded to the area of Rainbow Valley after reports of a man who tried to cross a flooded wash. When they got there, deputies learned the man had been swept away.

Crews were able to locate the man’s truck, but he was not found. They continued searching for hours on Sunday during severe weather, and the search resumed on Monday morning.

Friends and family at the scene tell us the man, Vince Upton, is a husband and father.

“We just want to find him,” Upton’s best friend Ben Santana said. “There was a group of us that got together and looked where the northern wash tied into the Gila.”
