Georgia football coach Kirby Smart is sticking to his postgame comments from Georgia's 20-10 win over Auburn about an apparent timeout call that officials waved off.
The sequence created a social media firestorm of sorts and Auburn coach Hugh Freeze sounded bewildered about how it transpired.
At issue was an initial timeout call against Georgia with 13:06 to go in the game on a third-and-9 at the Tigers’ 39.
As the play clock ticked down to a second, Smart signaled what appeared to be for a timeout, but he argued after the game he was clapping his hands instead because Auburn’s defensive players were trying to confuse Georgia by clapping.
