A popular New Hampshire restaurant is closed Monday after an early-morning fire -- 26 years after a fire destroyed its previous location.

The Hampton Fire Department said in a Facebook post Monday morning that they were battling a fire at The Old Salt and Lamie's Inn, located on Route 1 in downtown Hampton. They urged people to avoid the area.

In an email Monday afternoon, Hampton Fire Chief Michael McMahon said they received a call for a fire alarm activation at the Old Salt at 5:14 a.m. A second call reporting a fire was received three minutes later.
