The 51-year-old man who was critically injured in an electric scooter crash in Kalihi on Oct. 4 has died from his injuries, Honolulu police said today.

At about 7:48 p.m. on Oct. 4, a man on electric scooter was traveling east on North King Street when he lost control for unknown reasons and collided with a roadway stanchion, the Honolulu Police Department said. The victim was ejected onto the raised center median.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services personnel treated the man and transported him to a hospital in critical condition.

HPD’s Traffic Division said today that the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has informed the department that the man died.

Police said the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
