Monday marks the 250th birthday of the U.S. Navy and, to commemorate the occasion, some Republican lawmakers and others took to social media to share photos of ships.

Unfortunately, they chose ones from non-U.S. fleets.

Dave Brown, deputy Washington coverage chief at the Wall Street Journal, highlighted multiple organizations and individuals who crafted memes using ships that aren't part of the U.S. force.

Republican Florida state Sen. Jim Boyd cheered the Navy with a photo of a Russian battle cruiser.

The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Florida celebrated "honor, courage, and commitment" with a Russian missile cruiser.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), whose biography states he served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps from 1988 to 2005 and achieved the rank of commander, congratulated the Navy on its 250 years by using photos of Indian warships, Brown posted.

Orlando-based Daniels Manufacturing Corporation made the headlines in 2020 after the company's president told employees that if Trump lost the election, there would be mass layoffs. George Daniels, the company's leader, "has funneled thousands of dollars in donations to President Trump’s campaign," the Washington Post reported at the time.

On Monday, the company also used Russian ships in its Navy birthday meme, observed the WSJ reporter.

"The Hunt for Reds in October," quipped Brown in his post about the meme.

A few that Brown captured showed the same Russian ships.

Republican Mike Pedersen, who is running for U.S. Congress in Florida, served in the Marines for 20 years. However, he failed to notice that the image he used to champion the Navy actually featured a photo of the Soviet Cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov. Brown noted there were "some dudes photoshopped in front of it."

There were three Democrats, all from Pennsylvania, who appeared to use the exact same meme Rep. Harris used, which showed the Indian warships.
