LUCEDALE — A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of a Wiggins man who was struck and killed Saturday night while walking along Highway 612 in George County.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Tyler Hunt was walking west on the highway around 9 p.m. on Oct. 11 when he was hit by a 2019 Toyota 4Runner driven by 22-year-old Brooklyn Buford of Wilmer, Alabama. Hunt died at the scene, authorities said. The crash remains under investigation.

A GoFundMe page titled “Support Tyler Hunt’s Family in Their Grief” has been created to assist Hunt’s loved ones in the aftermath of his death. The fundraiser’s organizers say the money will go toward helping the family as they cope with their loss.
