Patna, Oct 13: With the model code of conduct now in force ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, enforcement agencies have ramped up statewide operations to prevent electoral malpractices. In a major crackdown, illicit items worth a staggering Rs 246.23 crore were seized across Bihar on a single day, according to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday.
The seizures include Rs 7.7 lakh in unaccounted cash, liquor valued at Rs 130.64 lakh, narcotic substances worth Rs 68.6 lakh, Rs 20 lakh worth of precious metals, and Rs 39 lakh in freebies and other inducements intended to sway voters.
