BRAINERD — In its return to Class AA action, the Alexandria girls swimming and diving team traveled north over the weekend.

The Cardinals competed in the Section 8AA true team championship at Brainerd High School on Saturday, Oct. 11, placing seventh out of the eight teams in attendance with 808.5 points scored while claiming a pair of top-eight finishes in the 12 events, including a runner-up placement.

According to head coach Mark Storhaug, the competition is where everyone scores points and is a measure of not just how talented the teams are up front, but how deep they are, the reason hosts Brainerd picked up the title with four victories in the individual events, finishing with a score of 1,361 points.
