On Saturday, Alabama football risked a turnover on downs with a fourth-down conversion attempt three times in a 27-24 win over Missouri, and moved the sticks on all three. In a narrow road win that wasn't decided until the final minute, each of those carried importance.

And fortunately for the Crimson Tide , offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb had a play he was comfortable with each. As he detailed Monday, that's not always the case.

"We're pretty dialed (in) going into the football game as far as what we think are go rates are in different situations. Typically when I start a series, I'll know what the (fourth-down play) is for that. Like on first down, I'll know what the go is, so leading up to that play, there's really not a ton of deliberation unless we've run out of calls," Grubb s
