A Pontiac woman is facing multiple criminal charges for allegedly setting up verbal agreements for land contracts and titles to homes that she didn’t own — and stealing thousands of dollars from the alleged victims.
As announced by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Amanda Escalante-Lopez, 28, is charged with three counts of false pretenses – $20,000 to $50,000, three counts of false pretenses – $1,000 to $20,000, one count of larceny by conversion – $20,000 or more and three counts of larceny by conversion – $1,000 to $20,000. As listed in 50th District Court records, the warrant was issued and signed on Oct. 10, but as of Oct. 13 arraignment was pending.
The prosecutor’s office alleges Escalante-Lopez began generating the fraudulent agreements for the Pontiac homes in early 2024.
