9MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ – A 70-year-old Totowa woman was struck and killed Saturday morning while attempting to cross Route 9 in Marlboro Township, authorities said.

The crash happened around 7:33 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 9 and County Route 520.

Police said the woman was crossing from the southbound to the northbound side of the highway when she was hit by a Honda CR-V.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victim identified as Sherril Sakas

Officials identified the victim as Sherril Sakas, 70, of Totowa. The male driver of the Honda CR-V remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
