A Hickory man is charged with stealing a Burke County first responder’s vehicle after a car crash along Burkemont Road in Morganton.

Arthur Andres Hoyle II, 62, of Hickory, is charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Burke County EMS and Salem Fire & Rescue were sent to a vehicle crash near the Hidden Hill Venue at 6572 Burkemont Road around 11 p.m. on Saturday. First responders found a blue Toyota Camry down an embankment, the sheriff’s office said.

While officials were working the crash, a white man was seen stealing a first responder’s vehicle. The sheriff’s office said the man was later identified as Hoyle.
