Our Community Foundation has announced the Teaching Innovator Grant recipients for the fall semester projects. Washington Catholic Schools received a $250 grant to support the Pioneer Living: Hands-On History Project. Shannon Lee accepted the award and was named a Teaching Innovator.
The Pioneer Living: Hands-On History Project brings Indiana history (a state standard) to life by providing 4th-grade students with authentic, hands-on experiences from the pioneer era. Students will explore daily life in the 1800s through activities such as churning butter, washing clothes with washboards, sewing leather pouches, creating corn husk dolls, and other hands-on tasks.
