After years of putting aspects of her own life in the pages of her novels, Miriam Toews has gone all in on the personal with what she calls a “hybrid memoir” titled A Truce That is Not Peace.
Noting that writing helps her to “stay sane,” Toews says she found her foray into full memoir to be freeing.
“It was exciting. It was fun to write, just because it was a change from what I would normally do,” said the award-winning author of eight novels, including All My Puny Sorrows and Women Talking, both of which were made into critically acclaimed films.
Toews will offer more insight into the memoir during two events at Vancouver Writers Fest (VWF), running Oct. 20-26. The first event on Oct. 21 (8:30 p.m.) at the Waterfront Theatre is called It Runs in the Family and will have modera
