Martin Lewis has addressed the recent rise in water bills, calling it the "worst of both worlds".
An independent group of experts appointed by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) provisionally decided to allow the companies to charge customers an extra £556m over the next five years, it said last Thursday.
Anglian, Northumbrian, Southern, Wessex and South East serve 14.7 million customers and had appealed to the CMA in February to ask for permission to raise bills higher than allowed previously by the industry regulator, Ofwat.
Responding to an article price rise, Martin took to X, writing: “More water bills rises announced today, on top of those already planned. Privatisation without competition, arguably the worst of both worlds.”
