SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- Olthof Funeral Home in Southport closed Monday after almost 80 years in business, according to an announcement posted on the funeral home's website and Facebook page.
No reason was given for the closing.
Olthof Funeral Home was founded in 1946 by Robert and Louise Smith Olthof.
"To our Elmira community and all the families who have placed their trust in us since 1946, we extend our heartfelt thanks. It has been our privilege and honor to serve you through the generations," read a statement on Olthof Funeral Home's Facebook Page.
The funeral home was sold in September 2020 to Rollings Funeral Service, Incorporated, according to property records.
At the time of the acquisition, Rollings announced that they were "thrilled to become part of the Elmira community"
