MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A New York man told police he had a "single Twisted Tea" before seriously injuring a child in a jet ski crash, an affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Daniel Grubert, 48, was in John's Pass on Sunday afternoon, racing jet skis with a friend and acting recklessly, police said.
Moments before the crash, Grubert was turned around and looking at his friend, and didn't see the other jet ski in front of him before it was too late.
When he finally noticed the other vessel, he bailed from his own jet ski, sending it flying into the victims. On the other jet ski was a 45-year-old man and two young children, ages 7 and 8.
All three were thrown from the vessel and needed to be rescued from the water, and at least one had a near-drowning experience
